Mini Monty

So umm

Hey how are you? Im well, so hot here in Melbourne, trying to stay cool. Yesterday I parked myself inside and made this little guy.

 

He is a she. Poppy for Audrey and Maude, Im yet to make any puppies, but i will as I think my #3 would love them all for christmas. This fellow is for my girlfriend who is giving birth any day now, so I was thinking of making matching bib with applique of the dog and burp cloth. Don't know the sex of the baby so I tried to keep it neutral, although may be if it is a girl I may add a pink dog collar.

I went to the local thrift store this morning as my boy was begging me to go to Savers, but I just couldn't be stuffed driving there in the hot Venga Bus (Thats what the kids call my tarago). Ive crated a thrift store junkie now that Riley knows they sell toy cars! Slim pickings today. I did pick up this sweet and very loved apron.

 It has the cutest stitching on the edges. I wish my machine had cute stitches. Don't know what I'II do with it as I don't ware them.

With this heat I thought Id make myself a sun hat. I found a Pattern in Stitch magazine, love that mag.

Im always telling the kiddo's to put on their hat, so I should too. Im thinking linen and vintage sheets.

My poor man, has to fast from lunch today till tomorrow 3pm when he goes in for day surgery. Only fluids... Im making ravioli for dinner, Not Mr Monty's favorite dinner so he doesn't have to suffer, although I think just the smell of dinner is going to be hard. Talk about the pits!

On a good note Tilly has been taking her first tentative steps, not walking fully but is attempting to!

Still a bit of a way off, she will be 15 months at the end of november. Late walker like her big sister!

More thrifty finds

Just cant help my self of late. Im enjoying the hunt of a good find at the usual haunts.

My latest finds including the back ground.

A single feather vintage doona. Love the colour, love the fabric, love the squishy-ness,love the price $5- but not the crunch of the feathers you can feel when you touch it. Oh well cant win them all.

Some old cotton, made in Melbourne too. Great colours.

And some Old domino's which the kids haven't stopped playing with. Love the cute little animals on them. Plus two books "The Wishing Tree" and "The book of Brownies". Love them as a kid.

 I added a new plant to the Terranium isn't it stunning with the pink, purple and green/white leaves.

I'II leave you with a funny story from my 5 year old boy. We were eating dinner at the table where the above is kept and Riley started to laugh to himself and said "Hey Mum, that fairy looks like she's beggin' to get out." To which he and his sister clamp their hands together and say "please let me out".

Ahh kids. They make your day. 

Makin' stuff...

Well thats what gifts a for giving...

So I finished the Baby Quilt. Ive even washed it and its now ready to go to its new owner.

Sorry crappy photo, I don't have a clothes line, *gasp* yes as unbelievable as it sounds I dry all our clothes on three clothes horses. Don't get me wrong I'd love one but Just never got round to it. If I did have one I could have hung it out on this glorious day in Melbourne and took pics.

But alas these will have to do. It was so much fun... I may just try it again as my friend is due in November.

That same friend had her Birthday last week so I whipped up a Heat pack for her along with a DVD she wanted and some comfort food to go with it.

Tried some free hand on the sewing machine. S'okay .

Brought this great BIG jar from Savers and started a fairy garden much to Taya's delight. Ive been meaning to make one for ages and I read a post on Crafty Kin about the little gardens and It gave me the shove I needed. I put some pebbles in the bottom, then a layer of charcoal, which take away the odor and then potting mix, then it was off hunting for moss in the back yard.

Found a few cake toppers in the cupboard and river pebbles and Bob's your uncle. Except fairy didn't last long in her garden, someone just had to have her....

One!

Where to start. Matilda Turned one yesterday, we all had a great day, it was quite relaxed.

 

Matilda woke up from her Morning nap happy as usual!

 

The kids made cupcakes, for Matilda! and made a great mess doing it too... I don't know how all you mums out there cook with kids? It drove me insane. But we managed.

 

While the cupcakes were cooking I finished Tilly's top, I just appliqued and used scraps, im quite chuffed with how it turned out and got me thinking I may make one every year and add another doll with each passing year...would make for interesting photos for her to look back on, she'll either love me or hate it.

 

After all the cakes were iced, it was off to Nanna's house yay!

 

Where Tilly received her present from us. She absolutely fell in love with this little gal!

As I mentioned last post I asked jen if she would make a doll, but I wanted a blondie to match Tilly, and this is what she came up with, I love how she turned out. I think I was lucky to get her cause Jen's little one was quite taken by her too, and who could blame her. We are still thinking of a name?

 

After a yummy dinner we sang happy birthday and the kids all enjoyed the cupcakes we made, so did some bigger kids too. I made chocolate ripple cake, I forgot how easy and yum it is...might have to make another,,, and that was that, my baby is one. This year has flown, Tilly is such an easy child, always happy and calm and sleeps well, eats well, thank gawd I got my tubes done or it would possibly mean #5!

Spiderman needs rescuing.

This is what I walked into the other day.... when I heard Riley aka spiderman calling out that he was stuck... He is sitting in an upside down stool! and couldn't stand up I almost wet myself with laughter.

                       This is him trying to get out of it while I laughed and took photos, such a caring mother!

On the craft front I've finished my Owl swap but cant post photos yet, and I made some more baby shoes which I forgot to take pictures of, but I did receive a Dotee from the Dotee swap which I had forgotten about, so it was a surprise package for me!

 

I Love the colours and the beading is beautiful..... It was wrapped in some pretty material and came with the cutest card I've ever seen.. She came all the way from Illinois USA.

Im over breastfeeding, I don't want to be a human milk machine anymore!But just look at what I get when I try and feed Matilda formula...

 

Cant blame her really, it is soy formula and it smells like shit. To top it all off I cant find my breast pump to try and express ,to try and get her to take a bottle! One thing after another.

               

She cracks me up!
