My creative space

I had a dream last night and just had to try and make this bag I dreamt of. Do you ever do that?

I brought this table cloth and napkins from the oppie ages ago and thought it just right to try my design.

So off I went drawing up what I saw in my dream.

The most distinguishing part was the handles. And so I cut.

The handles are made from the napkins. Its a really pretty green colour which you can see real well in these photos. Ive sewn them up and sorry I have no more pics, but you can come back when its finished, im quite liking how its taking shape.

Whilst Im sewing I have these beautiful old fashion roses in a vase.

They smell divine and I thought I'd share them with you!

Oh and one last thing. we got a new toy here at Monty Mayhem.

The number plate says ENVIE....what a crack. The boy is in love. Didn't know I rode did you.

15 days till Pearl Jam...woohoo. Kootoyoo has more great spaces.

The possibilities are endless really.

and on a yellow note, Ive been making blocks for Block of the month swap, this month is meant to be Dark Yellow.

I think it's more sunny colours. Quite fitting with the weather out side of late, Im off to enjoy the sun.

My Creative space

I have a take with me "space".

Whats becoming a permanent sight on my kitchen table, little miss likes to get into the tray to see what she can find.

 Then there's just plain taking over, the top of the washing machine often becomes a creative space, with my handy dandy Multi-tasker as my ironing board.

Finally found something to do with those Thrifted linen napkins I got a while back.

My Creative Space

Well not My creative space but my creative surge, I had one of those flash bulb moments and off I went on a sewing pattern drafting session, cause Mr Monty was away for the night. So this is what I created.

My uncle used to work for Red Robin Socks and I remember these blow up robins he used to give me. So I reproduced it using a thrifted table cloth.

Im not in love with it, it's not grabbing me, like it needs something more, What do you think? I would really love some feed back. I think it may be better in retro fabrics.

It has a secret pocket for special messages. Im thinking 3 of them, different sizes would be cute. Im working on baby robin at the minute.

Other than that Im still rippling away and working on my Hexes.

Creative Space Thursday

Where does the week go?

Once again you will find me and my ever growing list of unfinished project on the Kitchen Table.

Ive been naughty and spending money I really dont have on things I really dont need, but you know how it is, I need to feed my habit. On the go at the moment

* Baby quilt in yummy flannel fabrics I brought from the Craft show way back when. Making it up as I go.

*My Hex just started Im managing one a night.

*New books (the Spending) Tiny Yarn Animals, such a great book, very clear and Ive started my first ever Amigurumi. And under that I Sew Darn Cute...and it is very cute.

* Need case (another new purchase) great buy I recon all for $24.

* Hot cuppa tea in my fav Mug made by a lovely Nancy.

* Towels on the right of pic to be put away.

* and out of picture... Two Bom's still working on,

* Reversible coat for the wee one. All cut and ready to sit and sew.

* Baby blanket I need to blanket stitch

Yesterday I took three of the kids with me to Spotlight as I needed DMC to stitch the blanket mentioned and I picked it out and put it in the trolley with all of the kids and It never made it home...probably somewhere on spotlights floor....BUM.

Something old and something new.

In my creative space this week, Im going to start something new...because I couldn't help myself when I saw this book.

 

So many nice things for me and Mr Monty...Im still deciding what Im going to start. Its your fault Retro Mummy... She blogged about it and today I found it in K-Mart would you believe? Whilst i was looking at crochet hooks.

I have been trying my hand at expanding my crochet skills, form a Golden Hands book I scored at an Oppie.

 

Just look at that cover... The poor kid must be starving..looks like his eating the bread meant for the birds...lol. My kids are good for that too, so I shouldn't laugh.

 

You get the general idea...I need to get the tension right along with the hook sizes. Im just playing with what I have at the moment. Make up for the book brought above...yes I'II just keep fooling myself no worries.

Oh Taya what did you do ? Show mummy...

 

Silly Mummy left Taya stamping on her own while she was doing other not so important stuff! Mummy has learned a valuable lesson. Poor Tay still had black hands and ink on her body even after plenty of scrubbing, oh well it will eventually fade I guess. Doesn't she remind you of Edward scissor hands? with the cute black lips... You gotta laugh. Would you belive this same girl ate a cupcake for afternoon tea, yer you say whats so unusual about that? I'II tell you or shall I show you?

 

What 2 year old so you know that eats the cake and leaves the icing? Not normal I tell you. So guess who ate the rest , yep me!

On the crafting front I finished the Melly's Bag.."Birds of a Feather"

 

I love it. It was the first time I used those magnetic closures, they were easy, except if you put them to close to the edge where you need to sew, then the foot on you sewing machine wont go over it so it makes you go around it and stuff's up your straight line a beauty. I added a mobile pocket inside too, but you could quite easily fit your mobile in the front pocket.

I finished and packed up my giveaway... I added a hand carved Owl Stamp.

 

I didn't want to let it go, but I did. Im really getting into the stamp carving thing, but I think its time I moved on to the proper rubber, which Ive been told by Holly you can only buy in the U.S. :(  Any one in the USA up for a swap for some rubber?

 

And finally I have completed Block #7 of the Breast of Friends BOM by Rosalie Quinlan. I enjoyed this one it was quick and relaxing. I used a different back ground which I will do for these little blocks. Ive traced the next block, and I can tell you Im not doing all those French knots... I think I'II just stitch the out line.

My Creative Space

Oh my its thursday already! Ive been working on a block for a charity quilt which will be auctioned off to raise money for cancer research. Its part of the "Girls Day Out" this weekend run by Country Thyme Ppatchwork, which I have mentioned before.Can you tell Im excited? A day with no kids and crafting with Super Cool People!

 

The theme for the Block was Flowers and it had to be in Pink, yellow and white. I used all vintage materials except for the fork.

 

The Gingham is actually a thrifted table cloth, and the Napkin is a real vintage napkin, The plate is made form the main part of the napkin and  the flowers are from a vintage sheet, appliqued and sewn around the edges by machine. I think I veered off the flower them though? Its more a dinner theme... Oh well.

My creative space...

Today's creative space is portable, Im doing a cross stitch for a wedding present. It will have the Bride and grooms first initial on it. The Bride Loooves purple, thus the background colour. You can find the pattern in this months Better Homes and Gardens (australia)

 

This week Kirsty has made a game out of it, in each creative space you need to find a Hidden Heart!

Today my creative space is my Back door!? Yes its a great source of light even on this very overcast day here in Melbourne.

 

Im tracing my next block for the Truly Scrumptious Quilt. Its all about tea this month!

This morning I finished off my Breast of Friends Block Six... although I just realized  I forgot the car windows..

 

Oh well I will add them on tonight. I love the boarder detail on this one...

 

Hundreds of tiny cross stitches! Ive been knitting again, what is it with the cold weather that makes you want to knit? My SIL asked if I could knit some mittens for her wee one...well needles to say I jumped on Ralvery (sorry spelling) and got a freebie pattern, only to knit up the tiny-est mitt. It looks like a thumb warmer!!!

Will post photos later of tomorrow, just goes to show you do need to check your tension. I knit to tight.
