Using what you have..

One Per Month Challenge - January.

So Im taking up another challenge, this time as a monthly to do, set by the always friendly Sheridan at Chaletgirl. As part of the new year Sheridan suggested that it would be good to set a task to make one thing from her stash of craft books and cook one new recipe from her stash of cook books each month.

Any one can play along and its much like Creative Space where you blog and attach to Mr Linky. So Thanks Sheridan for the kick up the bum...Im loving the concept but will I do it?????  The craft book item I will, the cooking...I can take it or leave it but Im thinking I really could do with some new family meals that bring EVERYONE to the table...and not just a few. I don't know about you but im sick of cooking and no one eats it...except Mr Monty and Tilly she's a eating machine.

Okays so heres my first pick

I got this book last month ( christmas present to self) and I love it....I can see myself making so much.

But First pick is drum roll......

TRAPEZE SUNDRESS... isn't  it just yummy. Wish I had that fabric, but i will make do from my stash...trying to play within the Dottie Angel Rules  (second hand or handmade for a year). 

I got this fabric from Spotlight about two years ago with dreams of making myself a top. I only have two Meters and the pattern needs 2 and a half yards...I reckon I can still do it. So the question so I prewash the fabric?..its a light weight cotton...any suggestions peeps?

So there you have it folks...I will let you know about the cooking side of the challenge once Ive found it.

One Swap down..

I finished my Matryoshika Dolls, and sent it off today. Don't know if I should post the pics just yet as my swap partner may be watching(If see views my profile on swapbot) How long would it take for a package to get to the USA? Heres a pic of the machine cover I made my mum.

 

I think its a bit on the big size? but I can always take it in. Ive made a thimble holder, matching pin cushion and Measuring Tape with cover too. Im currently working on a needle case and Quilt Journal, then a bag to put it all in and Im done. Heres a peek at what I'II be putting on the covers

 

Just gotta work out how I'm going to do it.

I ordered some yummy Japanese books, they came really quick only took a week, mind you I have no idea what I payed for them? Is that bad? I'II tell you when I get my credit card statement! I shudder just thinking about it. But look its so cute...

What I'm Reading.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Im over half way through it and loving every minute... I hope her other books are just as good. This one is about young love and vampires, if your into that sort of thing it keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you feel as though your falling in love. A great read to get away form everyday life of kids and housework, not that there is anything wrong with that... Right!???

What a beautiful day in Melbourne, to good to be inside, im off to finish my read in the sun.
