Mini Monty

Nine.

Its true what they say about melbourne, beautiful one day, raining the next.

Would you believe that I spent yesterday at a Park with the kids trying not to get sunburn and today, its raining non stop. But I have to say I don't mind at all cause it gives me a chance to do some of this.

 

Love sewing when the weather is blue. Im working on Riley's car case. Quilting the outer case.

This weekend was busy and there's no end in sight, with chrissy and birthdays still to come.

My #1 turned 9 on Friday, Shes my mini me. Everything about her, we totally rub each other the wrong way. She's smart and talented and beautifully natured, but you know how sometimes you only see your faults in them. Im too hard on her, shes a great help and lazy at the same time. Being the first child is hard, Im a first born too, you'd think I'd ease up on her but no, cant help myself. Shes dramatic and sensitive. Drives me nuts but I love her to death, how is it that someone can grate you so much but you would give your life for them...If anyone had told having kids is like ripping your heart out and letting it walk around, I would have laughed, but its true. Love you Holly.

She got some amazing presents, and one Auntie gave her these.

How yummy are those balls of yarn and those needles. Do you know how hard it is for me to keep my hands off it! Ahrr.

Now Im getting ready for #3's birthday this Monday. Bad planing on my part. Two baby's in December.

Im off to keep sewing, and do the kinder run. Hope your all enjoying the weather where every you may be!   

My Creative Space

Is all a buzz with making for christmas, as it is for most of you too, I suspect. Its basically a progress report from a few posts back, where I showed you my idea for a Car Carry Case.

To refresh your memory or show you, if you haven't seen it. I as usual came up with this idea in the wee hours of the morning, in a dream like state and am trying to make it come to fruition. Its a case that folds out to a car park, drag strip and race track. So I started this week, thanks to Nikki you gave me that shove I needed!

So after making one out of paper first I got cutting. working out zipper pocket placement.

Made the zipper hole to big so the only zipper that fitted was a fluro green one, I should have been black?! But what you gonna do. Mhe. So this is one side of the case. Race track.

And this is the car park. I had to whip out the white paint for this one. Fun I tell you. and thats as far as I got cause I needed some cute fabric for the out side and came across Amy's Badskirt shop and found the perfect fabric.

I received it yesterday, so today I need to get started on the Drag Strip.  But first  I think I'II put the kettle on and have some of the cake I made last night.

Although it wasn't so drizzly, Its still noice. Wont you join me? Kettles boiled.

Wrist warmers

Something Ive been meaning to try for a while and after seeing New Moon the Movie, I wanted to knit my sister some of these.

I have the perfect wool for them, but I tested the pattern and although I tried many times I am unable to knit in the round. So I made up my own... you know the sew up the side and leave a thumb hole type.

These are my practice run in a more chunky knit version. Lots of fun and extremely quick to knit up, and best of all used up some of my stash.

 I have a beautiful hand dyed sock yarn to do the real set in. So these are mine,not that I need them now. Im all set for winter.

Easy Peasy

I made the Travel High Chair and I love it!!!! So does Tilly.

Its made from vintage sheet and I used polar fleece, which I had in my stash. It was so totally easy to make and I cant tell you how happy I am to have it.

Tilly loves it too, cause shes part of the table now! My eldest said this morning how she's part of the group now all grown up and every spot on our table of six is taken!  (so sweet)

Hasn't stopped Tilly from climbing up onto the table when meals arnt being served, but during meals its great.

Matilda has been teething big time, as you can see, she's coming out the other end of what has been the worst week of my life...She was a different child, screaming constantly and didn't want to be put down. Temp and runny nappies. Im glad thats done. Poor thing.

What am I thinking?

Okay so I have this idea, to create a play carry case for my little man.

This is my sad attempt to put it on paper, so I get and idea of what it was I dreamed of, cause I always seem to think of these things in the dead of night.  So its a fold out car park with Drag strip and Race track. Behind the car park and race way I want to make pockets so Riley can put his cars in. I want it to zip up around the edges and the drag strip will meet up and velcro the whole thing closed. You get it? Cause I do... Heres my attempt to make a template from paper.

 
Its a tad bigger than I wanted it but if its going to serve a purpose and fit enough matchbox cars in the car park and race track than it has to be the right size. So off to spotlight yesterday with my parents in toe. I came home with everything I need except a cute car fabric for the outside.

They had great quilting fabric with cars and trucks on it but it was 20 bucks a meter and I was going to get half a meter, but then the line to get your fabric cut was beyond a joke. So I left it behind. I may have to shop on line and find something, but I want it now, if Im going to do this I need to have everything. I do have some left over fabrics but I want something bright. Any who thats whats consumed my time, as well as everything else I keep adding to my to-do list.

Shelves exactly like my Nanna has. But even better cause they are painted blue. I just have to fill them with all my cute crafty stuff. Pretty un inspirational at the moment.

Did you see this great traveling high chair, on my list now as Tilly has taken to climbing onto the kitchen table. Would make a great gift too.

Talk about pull my hair out. No of the others did it. Every chance she gets she is up there!

18 Again

I got to re-live my youth on Friday night in Melbourne. Pearl Jam came to town and I had the time of my life.

 
Mr Monty managed to push us to third row from the front. So I had a good view of my other man.

We were right under the big screen too. Needless to say I had a great time. Mr Monty played body guard to protect me from the crush, we were hot and very sweaty. dripping. All fun.

Any who not much crafting went on this weekend. We took the kidlets to see the Myer Windows Christmas display. Cant say I was impressed with it, but the kids seemed to like it.

  Did I show you my latest haul from the Thrift shop. Sheets and pillow cases.

I found some great baby vintage items too.

Any who I better get off the puter and get the house in order, if Mr Monty is going to let me out again tonight. Im off to watch New Moon with my sister, at the Directors lounge!

Couldnt Help Myself.

When I found out my Friend had a girl, I just couldn't help myself. I made the dress yesterday Arvo.

Its the Itty Bitty Baby dress pattern by Made by Rea. I was given the material in a swap. Love the colours.

It turned out so sweet. I had these shoes I made ages ago that match so I finished them up too.

What do you know I made them reversible.

and a squishy rattle to match, with the letter "a" on it. For baby Asher.

 Too cute!! just like bubs. I gave it to her Last night. Snuck in after hours too. Im cheeky like that.

 This is the inside of one of them which I think is quite cute. Presents for teachers and school and kinder.

I finished my owl stitching, just in time, as my girlfriend had a Baby girl last night. Her second.

Im trying to work out a PDF so you crafty folks and stitch it too. Bit hard when I don't have a scanner.
